Challenge:
A large suburban public school district faced Classroom overcrowding at one of their high schools. Space needs were finalized and the school needed additional Classrooms by the start of the fall semester.

Innovative Modular Solutions representatives met with district administrators to discuss the cost of installation and operation associated with the use of modular buildings to meet their space needs.

Alternatives Reviewed:

1. Design, bid and build a school addition - feasible due to cost and time constraints.
2. Install used modular Classroom building(s) - none that met the district’s needs were available.
3. Install multiple 1 or 2-Classroom buildings - not practical due to limited space on school grounds.
4. Install one 6-Classroom IMS ‘Scholar Series’ Building - the preferred Innovative Modular Solution.

Solution:
The District contracted with IMS for the 6-Classroom building in mid-July. All fieldwork was completed prior to occupancy, in advance of the opening of school.
Benefits of this solution are as follows:

• Relieves overcrowding while providing an excellent educational environment.
• Modular buildings are cost effective and energy efficient.
• Site construction costs were reduced by 30 to 40 percent when compared to the installation of multiple one  and two Classroom buildings.
• Fits in available space on school grounds.
• Available for use in the necessary timeframe.
