Challenge:
The Academy planned to open with 450 students in a renovated existing building. The original plan was to later add modular buildings to handle the increases in student population. The renovations could not be completed on time in order to open the school for the Fall semester.

Innovative Modular Solutions (IMS) representatives met with school administrators to discuss the cost of installation and operation of a modular building to accommodate the entire entering student population.

Alternatives Reviewed:

1. Design, bid and renovate existing school - not feasible due to cost and time constraints.
2. Install used modular Classroom buildings - none that met the school’s desired level of quality or functionality   were available.
3. Install an IMS ‘Scholar Series Plus’ building - the preferred IMS Solution.

Solution:
The School contracted with IMS for the modular building, and the project was completed in 52 days. The building was occupied by the start of the school year. The 26,000 sq ft modular building was designed by IMS to blend with the existing brick structure. The modular portion will eventually be enhanced with matching brick.

Benefits of the solution are as follows:

• Modular construction met the owner’s requirement for appearance, while providing the advantages of   modular construction - speed and cost.
• School expansion can be easily accommodated.
• The modular building provided an excellent education environment with energy efficiencies and low cost   operation and maintenance.
• School quality specs were achieved at a reasonable cost!
